FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Reggae Singer Ky-Mani Marley to Perform for Troops on USO/AFE tour to Persian Gulf ARLINGTON, Va. – Reggae singer Ky-Mani Marley will soon embark on his first USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour, performing for troops stationed in the Persian Gulf Region. The son of reggae music legend Bob Marley will also meet with service members and sign autographs. After discovering his musical talents later in life, Marley has made up for lost time by rising to the top of the reggae scene with his unique sound. His first album, "The Journey," released in 1999, came on the heels of his reggae rendition of the single, "Electric Avenue," by Eddy Grant. His second album solidified his standing in the music industry when the 2001 release of "Many More Roads" led to a Grammy nomination for "Best Reggae Album." He also has made a name for himself as an actor, starring in a number of underground movies in Jamaica, including “Shottas” and "One Love." Marley – whose first name is East African for "Adventurous Traveler" – is currently working on his third album, which is described as an urban hip hop and reggae fusion. This tour continues the USO's tradition of bringing entertainment to troops stationed far from home. Celebrities who have recently made trips for the USO include Jon B., Malina Moye, Gary Sinise, Master P, Lil' Romeo, Shinedown, La Mafia, Toby Keith and Pryde. USO tours are sponsored by AT&T, Inc., the official telecommunications sponsor of USO entertainment tours. # # # About the USO: For more than 65 years, the USO (United Service Organizations) has been providing morale, welfare and recreational services to U.S. military personnel and their families.
